Challenging the Facts

ACS is a contract packaging and sterilization company with over 200 years of combined experience in the custom tray business. We know this business and know it is time for a new approach.

Currently, we have 5 facilities: Tampa, FL; Madison, WI; Auburn, WA and Kansas City, MO in addition to our corporate offices in Minneapolis, MN. These Packaging and Sterilization facilities have a combined 75,000 square feet and have a production capacity of over 1,000,000 trays per year or 5,000 packs per day.

These facilities are regional, responsive and have the flexibility to expand rapidly.

In a "traditional company" 90% of the facility is dedicated to the same activities that O&M normally performs: purchasing, shipping/receiving, component inventory, component pickup, administrative support, and rebates. That means duplication of activities, and ultimately additional cost. We propose an approach that capitalizes on existing resources - not duplicates them.

We focus all of our efforts on our responsibility, which is the 10% remaining, Packaging and Sterilization. We let O&M focus on their expertise. We maximize on resources that already exist in the supply chain and by doing so, it exposes savings opportunities for hospitals.

We tap into an existing relationship - O&M sends trucks back and forth if not daily, then weekly. With our model, instead of one of those orders (i.e the components for 20 arthroscopy packs) being shipped directly back to the hospital it stops at our facility. We then package and sterilize it per the hospital specifications and it goes back to O&M the next week (as finished packs). Of course information and communication is continuous throughout the process between the hospital, O&M, the ACS facility.
